Dargic Se (/dar/ /gic/ [shed] [lazy]) is a subtropical Town located in Fairkeep Dutchy, Ftiríhwèsag Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Dargic Se is derived from the Tauric language, as Dargic Se was founded by Hyandotame Pughes, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Dargic Se has a yearly average temperature of 28°C (82°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 32°C (89°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 25°C (77°F). Dargic Se receives an average of 140 cm/y (55 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Dargic Se covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 4546 m (14914 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Dargic Se was founded durring the early 13th century in summer of the year 1206, by Hyandotame Pughes. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Dargic Se was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Dargic Se is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Dargic Se is is constructed arround a series of narrow cobblestone mainstreets which form concentric circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to each other at varrious points. The town has a defencive wall made from querried stone. The wall is equipped with a full set of battlments but the nature of its construction methodology leaves it somewhat vulnerable to siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. Dargic Se's cost-cutting-focused defences are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the town as needed.

The town shows nothing out of the ordinary, at first glance. Then you start to notice all the small things. Each window has seven iron nails pounded into the sill. Every door has a sprig of holly overhead. Every well is branded with purity seals and runes to ward the contents. Everyone is carrying a small charm for safety or fortune, be it a rabbit’s foot, a horseshoe, or other little totems.

Civic Infrastructure

Dargic Se possesses a city-wide Aethary Link which provides Aethary access anywhere within its metropolitan. This allows citizens who can afford the relevant devices access in their places of work, and rarely homes.

Dargic Se has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Dargic Se. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Dargic Se's parks.

Dargic Se has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Dargic Se.

Dargic Se has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Dargic Se has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Dargic Se has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Dargic Se's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Dargic Se has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Dargic Se's natural decorations nor waterways.

Dargic Se has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Dargic Se has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Dargic Se's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its functional shapes, abstract shapes used sparingly for decor, simple color schemes, holistic design, and basic industrial materials. Its simple designs were created to be beautiful, functional, and mass-producible. The style used little to no embellishment or ornamentation, instead drawing attention to the streamlined design, such as flat roofs to create a simple, geometric look. The simplicity masks the style's nearly sinister functionality, as every last feature is designed to guide the people living in the building in how to make the most efficient use of the structure.

Dargic Se's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves ritual combat to channel Abjuration energies of tier 2 via speaking in tongues.

History

Almost every community has some problem with bandits and highwaymen, but Dargic Se is seriously plagued with raiders. One or more groups of persistent plunderers are hitting the community repeatedly, and they lack the necessary resources to fend them off or protect all their holdings.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century Dargic Se experienced an impossibly long, cold, and stormy winter unlike anything seen before. The worst of the disaster struck The storm coated everything in a thick layer of ice and freezing countless animals, plants, and people to death. Dargic Se lost 263 people, and 288 livestock in the disaster.. The disaster is remembered as the Mourning Screams, after the sounds of the winds.
